Concessionary Travel Passes now include Swift Pay As You Go
The West Midlands Older Person’s Free Travel Pass gives people free travel by bus anywhere in England during ‘off-peak’ times (between 9.30am and 11.59pm Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on public holidays). Residents of the West Midlands are also entitled to:
- Free local train in standard class within the Blue Zone on this map between 9:30am till the last service of the day
- Free local metro travel during the above times between 9:30am till the last service of the day
- Free bus travel between 9:30am and the last service of the day
Need to travel before 9.30am?
If you need to make the occasional journey by bus or tram before 9.30am, you can now use Swift Pay As You Go credit for hassle-free travel.
All Concessionary Travel Passes now have Swift Pay As You Go (PAYG) included.
This means you can load PAYG credit on to your Travel Pass to pay for journeys when your pass is not valid on the bus and tram, so there’s no need to carry the correct change (not currently accepted on trains).
To activate your PAYG you will need to register your Travel Pass and load on some credit.
How to register and activate Swift PAYG
Register your Travel Pass online and top-up through the Swift website 24/7. You will just need to enter the long number printed on your Travel Pass and your postcode to get started.
Visit one of the Travel Centres where a member of staff will be able to activate PAYG onto your Travel Pass.
Further details can be found at the NWM Swift website.
